The intercollegiate student online conference «Medicine in the Mirror of World Literature» was held on May 25th, the Philologist’s Day, at the Department of the Russian Language No. 2 (Head of the department, Associate Professor N.A.Ranneva). The conference was attended by the students of the 2-3 courses of the General Medicine Faculty of RostSMU, studying in the intermediary language (English Medium), students of the Preparatory Faculty of Rostov State Medical University, as well as the students of the Southern Federal University.
The choice of the conference topic is not accidental, since the professional training of a doctor cannot be limited to a complex of medical knowledge. The future medical worker also needs such universal qualities as kindness, tolerance, compassion, mercy. Equally important are spacious mind, erudition. Based on this, a special role should be given to the humanization and humanitarization of medical education.
Acquaintance with works of fiction is useful for future doctors to understand typical human reactions or emotions that are not exclusively reduced to physiological or biological, to consider individual human life, to enrich language and thinking.

		John Sundey, a 3rd year student of the General Medicine (English Medium) from Sierra Leone, told about his acquaintance with Russian doctors who devoted themselves to literary activity.
		Great interest was aroused by the report «The Wonderful Doctor» Pirogov», made by a student of the Preparatory Faculty of RostSMU Mungemba Mbussa Prinsnel (Congo).
		The report «Zemstvo medicine in the works of A.P.Chekhov» was presented by a student of the Preparatory Faculty of Madingu Don Chris Junior (Congo).
		A student of the Preparatory Faculty Al Saadi Marwan Amer (Iraq) presented the report «The image of a doctor in the story by V.V. Veresayev «Doctor’s Notes».
		The audience was greatly interested in the report «Dr. Mikhail Bulgakov» about life and early creative period of a great Russian writer. The report was presented by the 2nd year student of the General Medicine (English Medium) Zia Ahmed Misbah (India).
		A 2nd year student of the General Medicine (English Medium) Seth Elisha (India) shared her impressions from the story «Steel Throat» by M.A.Bulgakov.
		The speech of Mirza Itesham (India), a 2nd-year student of the General Medicine (English Medium) was dedicated to status belief in medical discourse based on the material of the story by M.A. Bulgakov «Star Rash».
		A 3rd-year student of the General Medicine (English Medium) Rakhi Alexey (Nigeria) prepared a report «The Way to medicine (based on the novel by V.Kaverin «An Open Book»».
		The 3rd year student of the General Medicine (English Medium) Farukh Mohammad (India) presented an interesting reflection on the topic «The practice of Mesmerism in the novel by E.A.Poe «The Facts in the Case of M. Valdemar».
		The 2nd year student of the General Medicine (English Medium) Verma Iti (India) told about the popularization of medical knowledge in the works of the wonderful Russian surgeon Nikolai Amosov.
