In the City patriotic center «Victory» in the framework of events dedicated to the 71st anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, veterans of the Ministry of Interior held a meeting with students of the RSMU Preparatory Faculty on Training Foreign Citizens.
Welcoming remarks and greetings were made by the Chairman of Rostov-on-Don Veterans Council of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia — Nesterov Yury Konstantinovich, and the vice-chairman Sisyukin Evgeny Vasilyevich, who presented their new book «They fought for their Motherland» dedicated to the heroes of the Great Patriotic War and home front workers.

Southern Federal University professor N.N.Mayevsky took part in this event. Foreigners have been excited with his story about heroism and courage of Rostov-on-Don residents in the years of war.

With great interest the students have watched the movie «Rostov — the City of Military Glory» which made them think about the City heroic past.

Then students from Yemen, Afghanistan, Zambia, Lebanon, Vietnam, China, Ghana, Iraq, Macedonia congratulated veterans on the Victory Day. Fierily, with great feeling to the applause of the audience they have sung legendary «Katyusha» and famous cheerful «Smuglyanka» («The Dark Moldovan girl»).

The evening continued with a poetic Marathon during which sounded poems of Alexander Pushkin, Bulat Okudzhava, Yevgeny Yevtushenko. Foreign students impressed everyone with their love of poetry, magnificent poetry recitation and artistry.

The festive event has come to the end with fine performance of the «Victory Day» song.
