Foreign citizens and stateless persons with a certificate of complete secondary education are admitted to the Preparatory Faculty without exams.

The Preparatory Faculty on Training Foreign Citizens welcomes students from all over the world!

The majority of foreign students complete pre-university training at the RostSMU Preparatory Faculty on Training Foreign Citizens. Training at the Faculty is carried out within a year.

Our reputation is based on 50 years’ experience of providing a high standard of service to our students. The Rostov State Medical University has been training specialists for foreign countries since 1961. The Preparatory Faculty was established in 1966. More than 12 thousand students representing 133 different countries have been prepared by the Preparatory Faculty since it was established.

In 1991, the Faculty was defined as the basic and leading one by the number of its under-graduate students among other preparatory faculties of Russia. It carries out its activities on the Terms of the Rules defined for foreign students studying in Russia. The Faculty enjoys a well-earned reputation for both research and teaching. Instructors of the Faculty have done a great deal in carrying out teaching programs in the Russian Language, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Regional Geography.

The Preparatory Faculty offers an interesting program in Russian: a Russian Language course consisting of reading, writing, speaking, listening and training with grammar lessons. Communicative methodology is aimed at breaking language barriers.

At the end of the academic year, students of the Preparatory Faculty pass the final examinations in Russian (in written and oral forms), Biology, Chemistry.

Extracurricular activities include many club meetings, excursions, rehearsals for concerts and sporting activities. They are a very important part of the faculty life, a link between different nationalities. Students perform in areas of common interest. The faculty is the center of the social life of students. In 1980, Rostov State Medical Institute was awarded the Order of Peoples’ Friendship for the achievements in training highly qualified specialists for Russia as well as for Africa, Asia and Latin America.

Foreign students are admitted into the Preparatory Faculty on scholarship and on contract basis as well.

The structure of the Preparatory Faculty is made up of the Dean’s office and five Departments:

  • Russian Language Department № 1;
  • Biology and Anatomy Department;
  • Chemistry Department;
  • Department of Physics.

After the completion of training at the Preparatory Faculty of the RostSMU foreign citizens who mastered the initial level of the Russian language and got the necessary body of knowledge for further studying of medicine in the Russian language can continue their education at our university or enroll in other universities of the Russian Federation.

Documents required for admission of foreign citizens at the Preparatory Faculty of the Rostov State Medical University

The state line:

  1. Passport of the foreign citizen, visa, and migration card.
  2. Assignment of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation.
  3. Original Certificate of General Secondary Education:
    —  documents  issued in the countries-participants of the Hague Convention of 1961 should have an Apostille (special print);
    — documents issued in other countries (certificate and transcript to it) must have the seal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country, where the secondary education was received, and the seal of the Consular Department of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in this country.
  4. A copy of the certificate on General Secondary Education and its translation into the Russian language notarized.
  5. Medical certificate of vaccination.

The cost of living in the community for students assigned by the Ministry of Education and Science  is 582 rubles per month.

The applicants on the contractual basis from visa countries must obtain an invitation and present the following documents to the Dean of the Preparatory Faculty:

  1. A copy of passport of the foreign citizen and the translation into Russian language, notarized.
  2. A copy of  the certificate  of  General Secondary Education and its translation into the Russian language, notarized.
    Important! Name, surname, other names in the translations of these documents must be completely identical.
  3. The application to the Vice-Chancellor on Training Foreign Citizens and International cooperation for the invitation to study at the Preparatory Faculty of Rostov State Medical University.

The deadline for the application is 31 October.

The above mentioned documents are submitted to the Dean of the Preparatory Faculty by the applicant personally or through a proxy

An invitation is issued by the Federal migration service within 30 days. In your country you must open the student visa at the invitation to enter the Russian Federation.

Documents required for the contract:

  1. Passport of a foreign citizen, visa, migration card.
  2. Original Certificate of General Secondary Education.
    — Documents issued in the countries-participants of the Hague Convention of 1961 must have an Apostille (special printing).
    — Documents issued in other countries (Certificate and transcript to it) should be stamped by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country  where the secondary education was received and the seal of the Consular Department of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in this country.
  3. A copy of the certificate of General Secondary Education and its translation into Russian language, notarized.
  4. Medical certificate of vaccination.

The cost of training at the Preparatory Faculty under the contract in the 2023-2024 academic year  is 194 000 rubles.

The cost of living in the community for students under the contract is 1294 rubles per month.

Foreign citizens and stateless persons having a certificate of complete secondary education are accepted to the Preparatory Faculty from September 1 to November 30 without examinations.

Foreign citizens and stateless persons, except for foreign nationals, applying under the quota of the Ministry of education, study on a tuition fees basis.

When applying on tuition fees basis it is necessary to receive an invitation for entry to the territory of the Russian Federation according to study visa and registration in the dormitory of Rostov State Medical University; in the case of residence in a rented apartment you register yourself.
